You first heard here about the legislation being heavily pushed through the Missouri legislature<\/a> that will drastically change Missouri family law statutes and ultimately force women onto state\/federal aid and destroy the culture of traditional marriage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, the Missouri GOP has further jumped, feet first, into the leftist agenda of anti-family, anti-marriage, pro-big government, pro-social program participation. Senate Republican Mike Cierpiot<\/a> has become the latest champion of men, in that they can crush women and their ability to support themselves and their children after divorce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cierpiot is the sponsor of the senate version of HB194<\/a> . In January he introduced SB307<\/a>, which essentially regurgitates HB194’s assault on protections for women in marriage\/divorce under present Missouri statutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SB307 redefines the length of long term marriage, further defines terms under which “bridge-the-gap, rehabilitative , or durational” maintenance will be appropriate, or not, mandates a number of benchmarks in which women must meet to receive maintenance after divorce and provides escape hatches for men so they don’t have to pay under various “exigent circumstances.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No exigent circumstances appear in the bill for women, and I think that point is a key factor in undermining traditional marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These bills in their various forms essentially reduce women to chattel and they completely disregard the spouse’s, who are most often women, contribution to the marriage as stay-at-home mothers and caretakers of the home. Their sacrifices to abandon career in favor of family are being flushed down the toilet by Republicans in the Missouri legislature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happens to women who keep body and soul together after divorce? Well, your guess is as good as mine. There’s always public assistance. Get your wallets out because I foresee a massive growth in the welfare state for women and children who will be affected by this legislation, and you’ll pick up the check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the supporters of this bill might argue that men have gotten the shaft in divorce and they are simply trying to right a wrong, or even the playing field from past biases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem is not that men are expected to pay maintenance and child support after divorce. The problem is that traditional marriage has bullet trained itself into the pig wallow with the advent of no-fault-divorce. Consequence has been eliminated for men\/women who enter into the union lightly, who choose not to honor the marriage contact, who abuse the trust and respect of their partner. And now taxpayers will be picking up the tab by sending the disposable\/throw away spouse onto welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long and short of it is, that women today have to out of their minds to enter into marriage under its present lopsided attack on women\/family\/marriage by Republicans in the Missouri legislature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, if you want to make your voice heard, please take the time to email the <\/strong>Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee,<\/strong><\/a> today, and tell them to kill SB307 and to stop growing the social welfare system that requiring tax payers pay when men choose to dodge their own responsibilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
